Does Your Saddle Really Fit?

Your horse’s body — and behavior — may already be trying to tell you.

Why Saddle Fit Matters

Even the most skilled rider, farrier or bodyworker can struggle to make progress if the saddle doesn’t fit. Discomfort from an ill-fitting saddle can lead to pain, compensation, and behaviors that are often

misattributed to training or attitude.

“If you were forced to dance in high heels two sizes too small… you’d stop dancing too.”

Most horses can’t kick off their saddle or leave the arena — but they can (and do) communicate discomfort. The challenge is knowing how to listen.

Expert Evaluation. Horse-First Approach.

What Becky Evaluates:

Becky doesn’t sell saddles. She evaluates saddle fit using a combination of:

  • Hands-on, in-motion assessment of saddle balance and pressure distribution

  • Saddlefit 4 Life® Diagnostic Methodology to assess ergonomics for both horse and rider

She evaluates both static and dynamic fit and looks for indicators like:

  • Bridging, rocking, or tilting saddles

  • Contact asymmetry

  • Pressure over reflex points

  • Saddle movement during transitions

  • Compensation patterns in gait

  • Saddle fitness and health

“Thermal imaging isn’t just about technology — it’s about visibility. It helps make the invisible discomfort, visible.”
