A Life with Horses
A Practice Built on Learning. A Mission Built on Meaning

From Arabian barns to anatomy labs, Becky Tenges brings 50+ years of experience and a passion for clarity - in the body, in the science, and in the partnership.
My Journey With Horses

I grew up on an Arabian horse ranch in California, daughter of a farrier, surrounded by over 100 horses at our peak. For five formative years, I worked alongside my dad as a handler—learning to read the quiet shifts in a horse’s weight, breath, and expression.

After earning a degree in Agricultural Economics at UC Davis, I spent two decades in investment banking. But horses called me back—and this time, I returned with a mission: to help them feel better in their bodies.

“I came back for the healing they offered my daughter. I stayed to offer healing in return.”

What began as a personal path became a professional vocation. I certified in the Masterson Method® of Integrated Equine Performance Bodywork and soon began teaching within the program. That role evolved into a decade-long contribution to its student fieldwork, certification, and CE systems—eventually becoming Director of Fieldwork & Certification from 2018–2023.

Along the way, I never stopped learning. My studies have taken me from dissection labs to fascia conferences, biomechanics lectures to red light therapy clinics. The result: a truly integrative, evidence-informed, and deeply intuitive approach to helping horses—and the people who care for them.

Founder: EBKN • KMHM • MICE

I’m the founder of three equine professional continuing education and support initiatives that reflect my core values:

Equine Bodywork Knowledge Network (EBKN) – offering anatomy-centered CE courses designed to elevate professional skill and collaboration.
Know More. Help More. (KMHM) – a heart-led education platform helping horse professionals expand what they see, understand, and do.
MICE: Motivate. Inspire. Celebrate. Encourage. – a growing Facebook community that supports the strength, stamina, and sustainability of equine professionals—mind, body, and business.

Teaching & Mentoring

Since 2013, I’ve been part of the Masterson Method® Instructor team, helping to shape the program’s educational architecture and teaching all levels of certification seminars and mentoring students online and coaching in person.

I’ve also presented at expos, clinics, and educational forums—and recently launched my own Continuing Education courses. With the flagship continuing education offering, Beneath the Leather: A Professional’s Guide to Tack Fit Issues, having been approved through the Masterson Method Continuing Education program.

My continuing education goal is to empower other equine professionals with knowledge, curiosity, and confidence—because when we know more, we can help more.

Heart-Centered, Horse-Led

As a Certified HeartMath® Mentor, I’ve trained in the evidence-based practices of heart-brain coherence, emotional regulation, and intuitive insight.

While HeartMath is often used in human resilience and leadership coaching, I’ve found its principles equally valuable when working with horses and horse professionals:

Working from the heart isn’t just a metaphor. It’s a measurable, teachable state that transforms how we listen, lead, and show up—for horses, and for each other.

This heart-centered approach supports everything I do—from sessions to seminars, conversations to course creation.

Beyond the Resume

My work blends precision and compassion—combining the data-driven rigor of a former banker with the horse-sense of a lifelong rider and the quiet listening of a bodyworker.

Bodywork sessions are thoughtful, respectful, and horse-led. Teaching is detailed and generous—blending anatomical precision, decades of experience, and a heart-centered approach that supports both horses and humans.

And my mission is simple: whether I’m working with a horse—or helping a practitioner refine their craft—my work is always in service of comfort, clarity, and meaningful change.

• In bodywork sessions, I use HeartMath breathing and coherence tools to regulate my own nervous            system, creating a calm, receptive field where horses feel safe to release.

• In mentorship, I share HeartMath techniques as tools to reduce performance anxiety, reconnect to            purpose, and build emotional resilience.

• In course development, I design experiences that invite reflection, intuition, and alignment—not just          information acquisition.

Working from the heart isn’t just a metaphor. It’s a measurable, teachable state that transforms how we listen, lead, and show up—for horses, and for each other.

This heart-centered approach supports everything I do—from sessions to seminars, conversations to course creation.
