Bodywork Practice Lab

Personalized Coaching for Your Bodywork, Your Body & Your Practice

Bring the work you already do.

Bodywork Practice Lab is a small-group professional learning experience for equine bodyworkers who want experienced eyes on their work, individualized coaching, and time to explore the questions and challenges that matter most to them.

First, watch me work—and hear the thinking behind the work. Then, in the Hands-On experience, let me watch you work.

Bring your bodywork, your questions, and the places you get stuck—whether in the work itself, how you use your body to do it, or the practice you've built around it.

Together, we'll identify Tips, Tricks & Tweaks to help you work more effectively, sustainably, and confidently.

Maximum 3 Hands-On Participants + 2 Observing Participants

Watch Me Work. Then Let Me Watch You Work.

The Lab begins with a narrated bodywork session.

  • You'll see what I'm doing—but more importantly, you'll hear what I'm noticing, what I'm thinking, why I'm choosing what comes next, what the horse's response tells me, and how that response changes the next decision.

  • The modalities and tools may change according to the horse in front of me. The real lesson is the process of observing, reasoning, responding, and adapting. Then the perspective changes.

  • Hands-On participants work with a horse using the bodywork they already do, while I observe and coach.

  • This isn't about making your work look like mine. It's about putting another experienced set of eyes on your work and discovering the Tips, Tricks & Tweaks that might make it clearer, easier, safer, more efficient, or more effective.

  • A different stance. A quieter hand. Less effort. Better leverage. More patience. A response you hadn't noticed. A different way to ask.

Sometimes small changes make a very big difference.

Bodywork is a conversation. The Horse Gets a Vote.

LISTEN • ASK • OFFER

Then:

OBSERVE • INTERPRET • ADAPT

What is the horse showing? What changed? What didn't? And what does that suggest about what happens next?

The modalities and tools may change. The process of listening, thinking, responding, and adapting remains.

What Do You Want From Your Lab?

There isn't one answer.

The thing you most want help with might be a bodywork technique—or it might be how you interpret what you're feeling, integrate the modalities you already know, understand the horse's connected body, use your own body while you work, or navigate something in your professional practice.

That's why Bodywork Practice Lab explores four interconnected dimensions:

YOUR WORK

Technique • Feel • Observation • Evaluation • Reasoning • Integration

Refine what you already do. Explore what you're feeling, what the horse is showing you, how you're making decisions, and how the modalities and tools you already know might work together.

YOUR BODY

Safety • Positioning • Biomechanics • Efficiency • Sustainability

Bodywork is physical work. Explore positioning, leverage, movement, and small biomechanical changes that may help make the work easier on your body—and more sustainable over time.

YOUR PRACTICE

Communication • Documentation • Business • Professional Growth

Sometimes the thing getting in the way isn't under your hands. Bring questions about clients, documentation, professional decisions, business challenges, or where your practice goes next.

YOUR PRESENCE

Grounding • Regulation • Intention • Energy Management

Explore what you bring into the horse's space—and how to remain grounded and regulated without carrying away everything you experience.

The Lab has a structure. What happens within it responds to the horses, practitioners, questions, and learning opportunities present that day.

Choose Your Bodywork Practice Lab (BPL) Experience

BPL HANDS-ON EXPERIENCE

Day 1 — Bodywork Practice Lab—Hands-On

Watch • Do • Be Coached

  • The Hands-On experience includes the narrated bodywork session, group discussion and learning, plus the opportunity to work directly with a horse while I observe and coach.

  • You'll also watch the other Hands-On Participants work and be coached—so one person's questions, discoveries, and Tips, Tricks & Tweaks become learning opportunities for everyone.

  • Maximum 3 Hands-On Participants. The group stays intentionally small to preserve meaningful time for individual attention, questions, practice, and coaching.

Want More Time? Choose the 2 Day Option.

Day 2 — Extended Practice Lab—Hands-On

More Application • More Access • More Depth

  • Day 2 is available only to the three Hands-On Participants from Day 1. No Observing participants.

  • By then, we've already worked together. I've watched each participant work. Questions have emerged. We've discovered things worth practicing, exploring, or following further.

  • Day 2 gives us more room for:

  • More horses • More doing • More experimenting • More troubleshooting • More coaching

  • And more time to follow the threads that emerged on Day 1.

BPL OBSERVING EXPERIENCE

Day 1 — Bodywork Practice Lab—Observer

Watch • Learn • Participate in the Conversation

  • Some practitioners learn extraordinarily well by watching.

  • Observing Participants watch the narrated bodywork session and Hands-On coaching, participate in discussion, ask questions, and learn from the reasoning, discoveries, and Tips, Tricks & Tweaks that emerge throughout the day.

  • Observing participants do not have their own dedicated Hands-On coached working session.

  • Maximum 2 Observing Participants • Day 1 Only

Is Bodywork Practice Lab Right for You?

BPL is designed for equine bodyworkers and other equine professionals who already have hands-on skills and want an opportunity to practice, question, integrate, and refine what they do.

You do not need to use the same modalities I use.

And you do not need to have taken Bones in Motion or another EBKN course.

Bring enough hands-on equine bodywork experience to have something meaningful to explore—and bring:

Your Work • Your Questions • Your Curiosity

Taking Another EBKN Course?

Bodywork Practice Lab stands on its own, but it can also be a great way to make more of the time and travel you've already invested in another in-person EBKN course.

When BPL is scheduled alongside an eligible EBKN course, participants receive $50 off their BPL registration.

For Bones in Motion course participants, the Lab also creates an immediate opportunity to begin integrating Skeletal Asks into the bodywork already being performed—with coaching available as the pieces begin coming together.
